Bus Tour - Point Pelee National Park

First come - first served - limited to 50 seats.
Includes bus, lunch (excluding alcholic beverage), admission and tour fees 


This year we are heading to the Point Pelee National Park [more] during the monarch butterfly migration. Our hostess will be Thelma Beaubien (the author of “Gardening for Butterflies”).  We will be lunching at Freddy’s in Leamington and visiting a winery.

The cost is $85 per person and includes transportation, lunch and admission fees.  We will leave Kitchener from St. Mary’s High School at 7:00am and return at approximately 8:00 pm.

There is a limit of 50 people so book now to reserve your spot!  You must be a current District 19 horticultural society member to attend (insurance purposes) but if not, membership is only an additional $10.

10:15am Marsh Boardwalk - 30-40-minute leisurely walk 

Tram ride to the tip- depart and return from the visitor’s centre
Guided walk by a PPNP staff member of the trails to the tip. At this time of year, it is the monarch migration and they roost overnight at the tip. It is an awesome area with a beach for walking on one side and rocks on the other.
On your return if time permits there are trails by the tram area.


Lunch at Freddy’s Restaurant in Leamington. 
All meals come with your choice of fries or salad, an ice cream and coffee, tea or soft drink with refills.
Choose one of:  - Perch on a bun, - Chicken Wrap, - Veggie Wrap (need to pre-order)

Within walking distance is the Pelee Wings Nature store and a beach area.


Leave for Pelee Island Winery Tour at 3:15 (tour & 4 tastings included in cost)

4:15pm Depart the winery; (short stop on the way home for snack/ food/drinks)
8:00pm Arrive back at St. Mary's High School
This is our proposed schedule and may be subject to change.

Suggested attire:  Long pants; proper footwear such as running shoes are a must.  Be sure to have a long-sleeved shirt or sweater to cover your arms should there be bugs or flies.  Don’t forget your bug spray. 

Please remember: 
- refillable water bottle - there is water filling station in the visitor’s centre  
- binoculars, camera
- you may want to bring a snack, or be sure to have some cash on hand to buy a snack, if needed since lunch is after 1:30pm. 


We encourage you to register early as space is limited to 50 seats and this is a district wide event.

  • please fill out the registration form (click here) for each person attending and include their name, phone number and email address as well as their food choices for lunch
  • write a cheque (payable to DISTRICT 19) for $85 or $95 for each person participating
  • mail the registration form and cheque to:

If your registration arrives after all the spaces are filled, we will place you on the waiting list and notify you. Your cheque will be returned to you if a seat does not become available.

To receive a refund, we must receive notice of cancellation at least one week prior to the tour (Sept 9) by email, mail or phone.
