Bus Tour - Point Pelee National Park

Price includes bus, lunch (excluding alcoholic beverage), admission and park fees 


This year we are headed back to the Point Pelee National Park [more] during the bird migration. We are hoping to view warblers and waterfowl. Our hostess will be Thelma Beaubien.  We will be lunching at Freddy’s in Leamington.

The cost is $85 per person and includes transportation, lunch and admission fees.  We will leave Kitchener from St. Mary’s High School at 7:00am and return at approximately 7:00 pm.

There is a limit of 50 people so book now to reserve your spot!  You must be a current District 19 horticultural society member to attend (insurance purposes) but if not, membership is only an additional $10.

10:00am Arrival at Point Pelee National Park gates -- we will go directly to the Visitor's Centre
10:25am Orientation at the pond located in front of the Visitor's Centre.
10:30am Our hosts, Ron and Thelma Beaubien, will be takin us on a trail walk located behind the Visitor Centre
11:45am At your own leisure you can board the Tram at the visitor’s centre for a ride to the trail head that takes you to Canada’s most southern mainland point called the Tip. One side of the Tip is sand and the other is rocks.  Be sure to walk along the beach side as song birds will be in the trees. Ron and Thelma will be available for questions. The Tram returns to the visitor’s centre.
1:30pm Board bus
2:00pm Lunch at Freddy’s Restaurant in Leamington. 
All meals come with your choice of fries or salad, an ice cream and coffee, tea or soft drink with refills. 
Choose one of:  - Perch on a bun, - Chicken Wrap, - Veggie Wrap (need to pre-order)

Within walking distance is the Pelee Wings Nature store and a beach area.
3:30pm Depart for home
7:00pm Arrive at St. Mary's High School
This is our proposed schedule and may be subject to change.

Suggested attire:  Long pants; proper footwear such as running shoes are a must.  Be sure to have a long-sleeved shirt or sweater to cover your arms should there be bugs or flies.  Don’t forget your bug spray. 

Please remember: 
- refillable water bottle - there is water filling station in the visitor’s centre  
- binoculars, camera
- you may want to bring a snack, or be sure to have some cash on hand to buy a snack, if needed since lunch is after 1:30pm.

  • write a cheque (payable to DISTRICT 19) for $85 or $95 for each person participating

If your registration arrives after all the spaces are filled, we will place you on the waiting list and notify you. Your cheque will be returned to you if a seat does not become available.

To receive a refund, we must receive notice of cancellation at least one week prior to the tour (April 27) by email, mail or phone.
