For our second bus tour of 2018, we are going to three specialty nurseries which focus on hostas and native and heritage perennials that push hardiness zones. At each nursery you will have an opportunity to talk to the owners, walk their display gardens and to purchase some plants.

First stop is "Any Time Hostas" in Bloomingdale which is owned by Ross and Kathy Little. For the past 35 years they transformed a once treeless one-acre lot into a gardeners dream, turning a hobby into a small business with over 250 different hostas to view.

Next stop is "Wild Things Nursery" in Clifford which is owned by Nina Aprile and John Harris, where they believe in both promoting native species and welcoming plants from around the world into their gardens. They like to experiment, bend and stretch the accepted rules for hardiness zones, for sun or shade and dryness or moisture requirements. See firsthand the beauty of native plants, the sheer variety of hostas, or simply walk their Woodland Trail. They do not use any chemical pesticides or herbicides.

For lunch, we are off to the "Drayton Chop House" where you will have a choice from a set lunch menu (see below in schedule for options).

Finally, we will head to "Riverbend Gardens & Nursery" in Wroxeter which is owned by Allan and Shirley Koch, who have spent the last 40 years on their property creating one of the most unique nurseries in the province. They specialize in hostas, daylilies, peonies, specialty fruiting shrubs, and heritage perennials. Their award-winning gardens have become a wedding destination and "mother-stock" nursery.
