Jane's Walk - History of Rockway Gardens

Date: Sun May 6, 2017 at 2:00pm to 3:00pm
Location:
Rockway Gardens
7 Floral Cres
Kitchener, ON
N2G 4N9

Regretfully, Jane's Walk at Rockway Gardens on Sunday at 2 pm has been cancelled, due to extensive wind damage and the number of uprooted trees in the Gardens from the recent windstorm. Mark it on your calendar for 2019.

Jane’s Walks are free, locally organized walking tours, in which people get together to explore, talk about and celebrate their neighbourhoods. Where more traditional tours are a bit like walking lectures, a Jane’s Walk is more of a walking conversation. Leaders share their knowledge, but also encourage discussion and participation among the walkers.

The walk begins and ends at the Garden House at 7 Floral Cres. The walk leaders are Bruce MacNeil, Maryanne Weiler and Catherine Owens.

Learn about the history of Rockway Gardens; when and how they were built, the significance of the design and how they are maintained. Take a springtime walk through one of the best preserved “Victorian” gardens in Ontario.

Master gardeners will be available to answer your questions on the floral and fauna and point out some of the trees that are unique to Rockway and not found anywhere else in Kitchener.

You will learn at least five new things about Rockway. And, if you have pictures of the gardens from previous years – wedding photos, grad photos – bring them along to share with your fellow walkers.
