Landscape trees and shrubs may need to be pruned properly to ensure their long term shape, flowering qualities, health and longevity.  He will demonstrate both the art and science of this subject.  The lecture will consist of discussion on proper tools, timing, proper techniques in pruning smaller trees and shrubs and hands on demonstrations.

Bio:The following is a brief background of some of what Jim has accomplished in the Horticultural Field in the past 25 - 30 years up to the present.

-          Certified Arborist

-          Owner along with wife Simone of Vineland Nurseries - Specializing in Unusual Plants for over 30 years.

-          Nursery specializes in Dwarf and Unusual Evergreens, Japanese Maples, Bamboos, Rhododendrons and Heathers.

-          Manager and Instructor of Horticulture Landscape and Design Certificates at Mohawk College - Hamilton

-          Lecturer throughout Ontario and US on numerous garden topics to garden  societies, clubs and other groups

-          past teacher of horticultural courses at various horticultural colleges - Niagara Parks, Niagara College, Humber College

-          guest appearances on Gardeners Journal, Calling All Gardeners, TV spots

-          Past Supervisor of Arboretum and Trails System - Royal Botanical Gardens , Hamilton
